Your field guide

Use this loop whenever you learn with AI.

01 · Predict before you peek

Write a first explanation or estimate before asking AI. Your prediction makes gaps visible. Being wrong gives you something specific to investigate.

02 · Separate claims from confidence

Pick one claim you could check. Words like “always” or “proven” deserve attention. A fluent answer is a starting point, not evidence.

03 · Find an independent check

Open the original source, reproduce a calculation, or test an example. Asking the same assistant again is not independent verification. Check dates, population, definitions and exceptions.

04 · Repair the explanation

State what the evidence supports and what remains uncertain. A stronger prompt asks for assumptions, counterexamples and a way to test the answer.

05 · Prove your own learning

Close the answer. Explain the idea in your own words, then apply it to a new example. Revisit it later without hints. Familiarity with an explanation is not the same as independent performance.
