1. Begin with a learning mission

Open Learning Path and enter the topic you want to learn. Be specific about the outcome. “Learn JavaScript” is broad; “learn enough JavaScript to build an interactive quiz without following a tutorial” gives the system a useful destination.

Choose the topic.
Anything from coding and mathematics to writing, history, design, business, or a professional skill.
Define the outcome.
Describe what you want to be able to do, create, solve, or explain.
Set your level and time.
The generated learning brief uses your current level, preferred approach, available time, and desired challenge.

2. Use the AI Prompt Coach instead of asking vague questions

The Prompt Coach turns a learning need into a more deliberate AI interaction. You can ask AI to teach a concept, tutor you Socratically, build an analogy, generate worked examples, run an adaptive quiz, create a project, diagnose a mistake, test active recall, evaluate a teach-back, or determine the next topic.

The important difference is that these prompts tell AI to keep you cognitively active. The learner should predict, explain, choose, create, or attempt before receiving unnecessary answers.

3. Work in focused learning cycles

Use Focus Session when it is time to stop planning and learn. Give the session one measurable outcome: “By the end of this session I can explain closures and write one useful closure from memory.” The built-in timer, notes, and question parking lot help keep unrelated questions from taking over the session.

4. Practice before you feel completely ready

The Practice Lab can create progressive exercises, real-world scenarios, debugging challenges, case studies, mini-projects, and explain-and-defend tasks. Ask AI not to reveal the solution before you attempt the problem. Productive difficulty is part of the learning process.

5. Retrieve instead of repeatedly rereading

Flashcards and retrieval prompts are useful when they force you to reconstruct important ideas from memory. Create cards for concepts, distinctions, decisions, processes, and situations—not every sentence you encounter. The goal is usable memory, not a giant deck.

6. Teach it back

The Teach It Back area uses a Feynman-style technique. Explain the concept without notes as though you were teaching an intelligent beginner. The generated evaluator prompt asks AI to look for factual errors, vague language, missing causal links, and unexplained jargon before asking you to repair the explanation yourself.

7. Turn mistakes into a learning asset

The Mistake Journal asks what went wrong and why. Was it a concept gap, forgotten knowledge, a misunderstanding, the wrong strategy, or an execution slip? The generated prompt asks AI to diagnose the root cause and create targeted corrective practice rather than simply hand over the right answer.

8. Use the Prompt Toolkit when you know the goal but not the prompt

9. Review mastery with evidence

A stronger mastery question is not “Do I understand this?”
